Mobile Health Symposium

Imagine the Possibilities of M-Health Technologies

Dr. Diane Doran and the Nursing Health Services Research Unit (NHSRU) at the University of Toronto site, will be hosting a Mobile Health Symposium with funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).  This event will feature health care clinicians and researchers from nursing, medicine, engineering, human geography and computer science to explore the relevance of mobile health care solutions for promoting safer patient care.  The symposium will also feature an interactive Technology Café to engage our current industry partners, researchers and health care providers in knowledge exchange about the possibilities of mobile health innovations.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Health care managers, nurse executives, clinicians, health care engineers, researchers, graduate students, policy makers, and other decision makers interested in the state of science and potential of mobile health technologies to improve patient care.

WHY

The purpose of this symposium is to engage in scholarly discussion about M-Health technologies and research that has emerged in the study of mobile health technologies, including remote monitoring. This symposium will engage the audience in the knowledge exchange about the possibilities of mobile health innovations to transform safer patient care.

The objectives of the symposium include:

  • Describe cutting edge research about the potential of M-Health technologies to support safer patient care.
  • Raise awareness among clinicians and researchers about the potential of Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) technologies to transform patient care.
  • Raise awareness among technology developers in academic settings about the potential benefits of M-Health technologies, such as RPM, from the perspective of decision makers and frontline clinicians.
  • Promote discussion about the current state-of-science and the future directions of M-Health technologies during the informal Technology Café.  The Café will provide hands-on demonstration and “show-and-tell” the latest development and utilization of M-Health technologies by clinical partners and industry colleagues.
