Raquel Meyer, RN, PhD is an enthusiastic proponent for the relevance of nursing research to clinical practice, nursing leadership and policy development! Her knowledge and commitment to nursing research is rooted in her career path which has included more than ten years of research experience at the Nursing Health Services Research Unit at the University of Toronto, where she is now an affiliate scientist. Raquel has developed expertise in nursing human resources, nursing work, organizational design, and nursing leadership and management. Currently an Assistant Professor (CLTA) at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, Raquel holds a Nursing Early Career Research Award from the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to develop “An Evidence-Based Approach to Supplemental Nurse Staffing in Ontario” which includes contingent and non-standard work strategies for meeting staffing or employment needs such as temporary agencies, resource teams, float pools and multiple employment. Her doctoral dissertation examined the work, span and outcomes of first-line nurse managers in hospitals.
