
Margaret Harrison RN, PhD

Dr. Harrison is a Professor at the School of Nursing, cross appointed with the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Queen’s University. She is Senior Scientist and founding member of the “Practice and Research in Nursing Group” at Queen’s.
PRN is an innovative practice partnership designed to advance nursing research and the discipline of academic nursing. She is also Director of the Queen’s Joanna Briggs Collaboration, the first North American partner of the Joanna Briggs Institute, a sister organization to Cochrane engaged in advancement of synthesis of all types of evidence.
The focus of her research program is continuity of care for complex health populations and evidence-based practice. These themes are intertwined. Knowledge translation and implementation of guidelines is an important strategy for improved continuity. Her studies cross community, hospital and long term care sectors and have received support from national and provincial bodies such as CIHR, SSHRC, MOHLTC, and through Canadian Cancer and Stroke Networks.
