Jessica Peterson, RN, PhD

Junior Research Scientist, University of Toronto

Jessica Peterson is an assistant professor (CLTA) at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. Her program of research is focused on the experiences of newly graduated nurses. In her dissertation she explored the effects of organizational and individual factors on job stress, job satisfaction, and the intentions of newly graduated nurses to leave their job or the nursing profession. Dr. Peterson received the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Nursing Early Career in Research Award in 2009 and is continuing to explore issues relevant to the preparation of newly graduated nurses and the transition into the work environment. Her research interests broadly include the work environments and careers of nurses, and issues pertaining to the nursing workforce. She is a co-investigator on studies pertaining to recruitment, retention and the migration of nurses.
